Yellow Fever Certificate (ICVP) in Toronto — Same-Day Issuance

The Virtual Travel Clinic is one of the few Yellow Fever designated vaccination centres in the Greater Toronto Area. We administer the Stamaril vaccine and issue your official International Certificate of Vaccination and Prophylaxis (ICVP) — the yellow card accepted globally — on the same day as your vaccination.

How to get your ICVP at TVTC

  1. 1Book a virtual consultation — our ISTM CTH® physician reviews your health history, confirms you can receive the vaccine, and issues your prescription.
  2. 2Visit our Toronto pharmacy — same-week vaccine appointments available. The injection takes 10–15 minutes.
  3. 3Receive your ICVP certificate — issued on the spot, stamped and signed by our designated provider. Valid for life under 2016 WHO guidance.

What is the ICVP?

The International Certificate of Vaccination and Prophylaxis (ICVP) — commonly called the "Yellow Card" — is the official WHO document proving you received the Yellow Fever vaccine at an authorized designated provider. Many countries require it as a condition of entry, either from all travellers or from those arriving from Yellow Fever endemic regions.

Only designated vaccination centres are authorized to administer the vaccine and issue the ICVP. Not all travel clinics or pharmacies have this designation — The Virtual Travel Clinic does.

Which countries require the ICVP?

Require ICVP for ALL travellers

  • Ghana, Cameroon, Togo, Niger, Mali
  • Côte d'Ivoire, Congo, Central African Republic
  • Paraguay, French Guiana
  • Saudi Arabia (Hajj/Umrah — required)

Require ICVP from endemic countries

  • India, Thailand, Indonesia, Nepal
  • China, Australia, New Zealand
  • Much of sub-Saharan Africa
  • (Canada is NOT endemic — not required on this basis)

Cost

The ICVP certificate is included in the vaccine fee — no separate certificate charge. Yellow Fever vaccine (Stamaril) costs approximately $150–$200. The ICVP is valid for life under 2016 WHO guidance — a one-time cost for lifelong protection and certification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the certificate expire?

Under 2016 WHO guidance, a single Yellow Fever vaccination is valid for life for most travellers. The ICVP you receive has no expiry date for healthy adults. Some older border crossing forms still reference a "10-year validity" — this is outdated. Show the certificate and our physician's documentation if questioned.

What if I had the vaccine years ago and lost my certificate?

We can review your vaccination history. If you have documentation of a prior Yellow Fever vaccination, we may be able to issue a replacement certificate. If no documentation exists, a new vaccination (lifetime, one dose) is the simplest path.

Can I get a medical exemption instead?

If you have a contraindication to the Yellow Fever vaccine (severe egg allergy, immunocompromise, infants under 9 months, etc.), our physician can issue a medical waiver letter. Note: some countries do not accept waivers and may deny entry or require quarantine. Discuss your specific destination with our physician.

Is the 10-day waiting period from vaccination mandatory?

Yes — the ICVP is valid for entry purposes starting 10 days after vaccination. Even if you receive the vaccine today, you cannot use the certificate for entry until 10 days have passed. Book your vaccination at least 10–14 days before departure.
