Travel vaccines are an out-of-pocket expense in Canada — no province covers them. Below are our 2026 prices, so you can budget your trip before you book.
The physician consultation

One flat fee for the full pre-travel consultation with a licensed physician, including your personalised vaccine and malaria plan and any prescriptions you need. Vaccines and medications are billed separately at the prices below.
Travel medicine is not covered by OHIP, but most extended health plans reimburse it — we bill most private insurers directly and provide an itemised receipt.

What insurance covers
Does OHIP cover travel vaccines?
No. OHIP and every other provincial health plan exclude travel vaccines and pre-travel consultations — they are classified as elective travel-related preventive care.
Do extended health benefits cover travel vaccines?
Usually yes. Most employer group extended health plans (Sun Life, Canada Life, Manulife, Green Shield, Desjardins and others) reimburse travel vaccines, commonly at 80–100% after any deductible.
Receipts and direct billing
We provide an official itemised receipt for every service, formatted for direct submission to your insurer, and we bill most private plans directly where the plan allows it.

How much does the Yellow Fever vaccine cost in Canada?
The Yellow Fever vaccine is given only at Government of Canada designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centres, and each centre sets its own fee — confirm with the centre you book. The Virtual Travel Clinic does not give it; our physician assesses whether you need it and refers you to a designated centre.

How much do malaria pills cost in Canada?
At our Toronto location, 8 weeks of Malarone (atovaquone-proguanil) is $345, mefloquine $50 and doxycycline $45. How many weeks you need depends on how long you are away, so your physician works out the full course against your itinerary at the consultation.
Are these the prices I will pay?
Yes, if you get your vaccines at our Toronto location (55 Dundas St E, Toronto): these are our prices without insurance, as of October 14, 2026. Rabies vaccine and oral typhoid capsules are ordered for you, so we confirm those prices when you book. If your physician sends a prescription to another pharmacy, that pharmacy's prices apply. Your total is confirmed before anything is given.
